Far away, but still present

Distance, work or health can make it impossible to go to the cemetery. Yet you want the grave of your parents or grandparents to stay clean and dignified. I take care of it for you, gently and carefully. After each visit, you receive before-and-after photos, so you can see exactly what was done without travelling.

Respect for the monument

Behind every grave there is a story, a name, a family. I work discreetly, with the same respect I give to the records of your ancestors. My commitments for every visit:

  • Respect for the stone: cleaning by hand, with no abrasive tools or harsh methods.
  • Products suited to the material: granite, marble or stone.
  • Old or fragile stone: I ask for your approval before any deep cleaning.
  • Weather: in case of frost or heavy rain, the visit is moved by a few days and I let you know.
  • Before-and-after photos and a short report after every visit.

What the service includes

  • Cleaning the headstone: moss, lichen, black marks… cleaned by hand with suitable products.
  • Weeding around the grave and tidying the surroundings.
  • Flowers (optional): fresh or artificial flowers of your choice, for example a chrysanthemum for All Saints’ Day on 1 November.
  • Photos and report: before-and-after photos, and a note on anything worth knowing (cracked stone, fading lettering, broken vase…).

How it works

  1. Your request in 2 minutes: tell me the town, the cemetery and the name on the grave (and its location if you know it). I reply within 2 business days with a quote.
  2. The visit: I go to the cemetery and look after the grave with care.
  3. Your photos: you receive the before-and-after photos and a short report by email shortly after my visit.

You do not need to be there, and payment from abroad is by bank transfer or Wise (bank fees paid by the client).

Why entrust me with your family’s grave?

I am Stéphanie, a professional genealogist in Moselle. My work is about family memory: finding ancestors, their records, the places where they lived… and sometimes their graves. Looking after graves is a natural extension of that work.

I do every visit myself. You know who is caring for your loved one’s grave, and you see the result each time. And if you do not know exactly where the grave is, I know where to look: town registers, cemetery maps and family records.

Area covered

Metz and towns within 50 km (30 miles), including Montigny-lès-Metz, Woippy, Marly, Maizières-lès-Metz, Hagondange, Amnéville, Thionville, Yutz, Hayange, Fameck, Florange, Uckange, Boulay, Saint-Avold, Creutzwald and Pont-à-Mousson. For a cemetery further away, write to me: I will tell you whether it is possible and on what terms.

Frequently asked questions

How will I know the visit has been done?

After each visit, you receive before-and-after photos by email with a short report on the condition of the grave, the work done and anything worth your attention.

Do I need to be there?

No. Send me the essential details (name of the deceased, cemetery and town, plot number or location if you have it) and I take care of the rest. If the town hall requires permission for work on the plot, I explain what to do. Everything is done remotely.

What types of graves do you look after?

Mainly family graves with a headstone or a granite, marble or stone monument. For a special case (funeral chapel, vault, columbarium), contact me to discuss it first.
